The organisation:

National St John Ambulance PNG is seeking experienced and adaptable Advanced Paramedics to join their team.

This unique role supports Australian personnel deployed to PNG while contributing to the development of local ambulance services. You will deliver advanced pre-hospital care in remote and resource-limited environments while working alongside local ambulance officers and clinicians.

Paramedics operate in a 24/7 on-call environment and may be deployed to locations such as Lae, Kokopo, Mt Hagen, or Port Moresby. This position offers a rare opportunity to combine clinical practice, international development, mentoring, and operational paramedicine while making a meaningful contribution to emergency healthcare in the region.

We’re Looking for Paramedics Who Are:

  • Clinically confident and capable of working independently
  • Adaptable and resilient in remote or resource-limited environments
  • Passionate about global health and development work
  • Professional, culturally respectful, and team-oriented
  • Interested in mentoring and supporting local staff
  • Comfortable working on-call in challenging environments

Essential Requirements:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Paramedic
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with a recognised Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) service
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in complex environments
  • Willingness to commit to a minimum deployment until April 2027 with potential to extend
